An Engineering Security Leader Advancing Trust in the Digital Era

Mr. Arun Kumar Elengovan

There are security professionals who respond to threats, and then there are those who reshape how organizations build trust at scale. Arun Kumar Elengovan belongs firmly in the latter category. Over more than fifteen years in cybersecurity and engineering security leadership, he has built a career defined not only by technical depth but by a systems level understanding of how security enables resilience, innovation, and long term value creation.

Currently serving as Director of Engineering Security at Okta, Arun leads cross continental teams across the United States, Canada, and India. His work spans applied cryptography, secrets and certificate management, identity infrastructure, and large scale distributed system protection. Rather than treating security as an afterthought, he has consistently championed embedding protections directly into engineering design and operational workflows.

Early in his leadership journey, Arun contributed to strengthening enterprise security architecture within global cloud environments, focusing on governance, risk management, and cryptographic integrity. His approach combines disciplined engineering execution with forward looking adaptability, ensuring that complex systems remain both secure and scalable.

Beyond his corporate leadership, Arun contributes actively to the broader technology community. He is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, Distinguished Fellow of the Soft Computing Research Society, and Vice Chair of the ACM Fremont Chapter.

He has reviewed more than one hundred sixty technical papers for journals including IEEE Access and Elsevier publications, reflecting his sustained engagement with academic and professional discourse.

Arun Kumar Elengovan’s journey reflects the evolution of modern security leadership. It is no longer confined to defense alone. Instead, it demands architectural thinking, collaborative execution, and a commitment to building digital ecosystems that remain trusted long after individual projects conclude.
