India enjoyed a golden moment at the Asian Games 2026 shooting range today, with Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet winning the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event with an Asian-record score of 484.6 points.

The victory marked India’s second gold medal at the Aichi – Nagoya Games, following the women’s cricket team’s title.

The Indian pair, who were paired at the last minute, produced a composed performance in the mixed team final. They took an early lead and maintained their advantage throughout the contest, holding off a late challenge from South Korea to finish 6.6 points clear.

South Korea’s Choo Gaeun and Hong Suhyeon claimed silver, while Iran won bronze with 415.8 points. Suruchi and Kamaljeet had also topped the qualification round with a combined score of 587 points.

The gold provided a strong turnaround for both shooters after they had missed out on medals in their respective individual events. Given another opportunity in the mixed team competition, the duo converted it into India’s latest shooting gold.

The day, however, brought contrasting results for India in shooting. Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil and Niraj Kumar narrowly missed out on the title in the 50m rifle 3 positions team event after a costly standing series.

Despite the disappointment in the rifle event, Suruchi and Kamaljeet’s Asian-record performance added another gold to India’s campaign and strengthened the country’s medal tally at the Nagoya Asian Games.
