In-Dot Sports Pvt. Ltd. and Prasar Bharati have announced the launch of the Kisan Cricket League (KCL), a nationwide sports and entertainment initiative aimed at providing a platform for cricket and singing talent from rural and semi-urban India to reach national and international audiences.
Built around the vision “Khelega Bharat, Dekhega India,” KCL will conduct a nationwide talent hunt through digital auditions, AI-enabled screening and physical trials. The inaugural cricket season will feature seven teams, 140 emerging cricketers and 30 singers selected from a large pool of participants across the country.
The league will follow a 15-over white-ball format, with 45 live matches scheduled across seven stadiums in tier-II and tier-III cities. Selected singers will contribute regional team anthems, appear in music videos and perform during half-time and match-day events.
KCL’s content, including live matches, two reality shows and participant success stories, will be available free of charge through Prasar Bharati’s WAVES OTT platform, Doordarshan and Akashvani, enabling wider access for audiences in India and abroad.
Vikram Singh Malik, IAS, Director at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said the initiative aims to fulfil the aspirations of young people who dream of becoming cricketers or singers, particularly those from rural communities. He highlighted Prasar Bharati’s extensive reach and its commitment to providing diverse content at no cost.
Atul Pandey, Founder and CEO of Kisan Cricket League and a National Award-winning director, said the initiative was a vision he had pursued since 2015. Drawing on his experience across entertainment, media and sports, Pandey said KCL seeks to address the lack of opportunities available to talented individuals in underserved communities.
Ambika Das, CTO of KCL, said technology would be central to talent discovery and audience engagement, with the league’s mobile application enabling verified registrations, online submissions and auditions.
Through its integrated approach to sport, music and digital participation, KCL aims to create a six-month cultural platform celebrating India’s diverse talent while opening new pathways for rural youth.
